A LabLinks Project for Blue Heron 5th Graders

Hey Kids! Step up to my lemonade stand and let me tell you a story. You remember the story about the goose that laid the golden eggs don't you? Well of course you do. But that story was just a work of fiction. It was made up from someone's imagination.

gooseDid you know that some people think there really were geese that laid golden eggs! Those people read a different story and they think its the real story? Just click on the goose to read the real story! Then come back here to see more Lemonade Stand Stories !

Well its easy to see why some people that read this story believe in geese that lay golden eggs. I also find it very interesting that such good stories can be found on the Internet.

Hey! Why don't you make an online story that you can share with your Kindergarten reading buddy. I bet they would love it.

Here's How: Use the LabLinks below to see examples of other online stories. As you look at them see if they have any design techniques that you could use in an online story you make. For example, does the story have sound or animated pictures.

Children's Online Stories (read 3 stories at this site)

KidSpace Library (read 2 stories at this site)

BAB Books (read 2 stories at this site)

And just for fun try these web sites.

The Moonlit Road (use the featured stories link and read 1 story at this site)

Adlib (ask for help if you need it)

Now, Ms. larson will assign you to a story production team. As a team, plan your story. It can be either fiction or non-fiction. Remember this should be a short story that will interest your reading buddy.

Step 1: Make a rough draft of your story on scratch paper.

Step 2: When your rough draft is done, show it to your teacher before starting the next step.

Step 3: Use Microsoft Word to make each page of your story.

Step 4: Your teacher will show you how to make the web pages and link the pages of your story together. THEN........

Your Teacher Says:
goose

When you have finished the web pages for your online story I will put it on the Blue Heron Web Server. Then you can share it with your reading buddy right here in the computer lab. But I think you should show it to your Mom and Dad too. THEY WILL BE AMAZED! And that is worth more than any golden egg!
