and the tomb is a cursed.

I bet you have heard stories about King Tut and the mummy's curse. Those stories can be scary. Some of them even make me shiver. But are they true? Some people believe they are, Lets find out more about these stories by solving the "Mysterious Case of King Tut's Mummy."

For decades, archaeologists have been taking journeys back in time, and their guides have been the mummified remains of people who died centuries ago. Even though their lips are silent, mummies have many answers for those who know how to examine them and discover their secrets.

So let's begin. Imagine that you could step through a time portal and go back to ancient Egypt and see if these curses are true. Get your Egyptian Case Discoveries sheet from your teacher, or print it out here. When you are ready, see if you can solve this case.


The Case: You have successfully traveled back in time to the year 1250 BC, in Ancient Egypt. You must locate the burial mask of the Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamen (King Tut.) On the inside of the mask is written SECRET a message that if successfully decoded could get you a special reward.

Your job is to locate King Tut's tomb, find his burial mask, decode the secret message and return to our time with the message. In order to SOLVE THIS CASE, you must complete FOUR special missions in the order they are listed below.

Mission Three: I Want My Mummy
Mission Four: Operation Tomb Raider

The Tomb, The Curse,
and The Secret Code
Now that you have collected all the facts in this mystery, show your completed Egyptian Case Discoveries sheet to your teacher.

If the facts you have collected are correct, you will be able to enter King Tut's Tomb..... if you dare! Of course you will need the information collected on your missions.

Use the information you recorded on your Egypt Case Discoveries sheet to get into the tomb. If your teacher says to continue, click on this monster mummy to enter the tomb. Oh- Beware the mummy's curse on your journey through the tomb! Good Luck.

Get Back to Our Time
If you have completed all your missions and decoded the secret message, tell you teacher. Then you may be able to click on the picture of the cold mummy to enter the time machine, come back to our time, and claim your reward.
