A LabLinks Project for Blue Heron 3rd Graders
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a deep, dark ocean, hunting for food as one of the most feared creatures in
the world? Today you will take on a new identity as a shark and find out what your life would be like as a shark! First you have to choose what type of shark you want to be. In order to do that you need to know more about what kinds of sharks there are in the oceans. Then you need to let other 3rd graders know what you found out by making a web page they can use to learn about the type of shark you select.
How? First take a Virtual Shark Dive to see examples of some common types of sharks. Click on the diver to start your dive.
LabLinks: After choosing which shark you want to be, use the following web sites to discover more information about you as a shark. Keep track of what you discover on the Shark Data Collection Form.
Your teacher will give you the form. You will also see some really sweet pictures of sharks on these sites. Remember, you need to find out
- where you live
- what you eat,
- your size,
- how long you can live,
- if you have any predators,
- if you attack people sometimes.

After you complete the Shark Data Collection Form for the type of shark you choose, use the information you have discovered to make a web page for other 3rd graders to use as they learn about sharks.
You will use KidPix to make your web page. Before you start your web page,
your teacher will tell you more about making web pages with KidPix. Then you can complete your project.
