Shadowing
- Come to the Career Center to pick
up your Job Shadowing Packet. The Career Center is located in
the red media center at CHS.
- Student Responsibilities
1. Complete job shadow experience before end of 10th grade for
homeroom credit.
2. Informational packets, identifying all area of organizing the
job shadow will be
dispersed in homeroom, and discussed in class.
3. Arrange your job shadow with the business or organization of
your choice.
4. Transportation to and from the job shadow experience is your
responsibility.
5. Arrange absence and complete forms with Attendance Clerk at
least two full days
before job shadow.
6. Identify appropriate dress with business before reporting to
the job site.
7. Be on time.
8. Complete questionnaire, and critique forms while at the job
site, hand to homeroom
teacher to be placed in your career portfolio.
9. A thank you letter will be included in your initial informational
packet. This can be
given to your business contact on the day of your job shadow or
mailed.
10. Ask business contact to complete an evaluation and return
this to your homeroom
teacher. This will be in your informational packet.
11. If a conflict arises, contact the business as soon as you
can and the Career Center
facilitator.
12. If you are having difficulties arranging a job shadow experience,
see the Career Center
facilitator, or the Transition Coordinator, both are located in
the red media center.
- Parent Responsibilities
1. Read and discuss career expectations with your child.
2. Be an active participant in helping your child find an appropriate
job shadow
experience.
3. Give your child permission to participate in job shadowing
and transportation if needed.
4. Discuss the job shadow experience with your child and encourage
continued career exploration.
- Business Responsibilities
1. Provide a contact person to meet with the student and guide
them through the job
shadow experience.
2. Answer student questions for their packet.
3. Provide feedback to the school as needed.
- School Responsibilities
1. Homeroom teachers will review Job Packets with students.
2. Homeroom teachers, Career Center facilitators and transition
coordinator will jointly
provide guidance and follow-up for the Job Shadow activities.
3. An informational letter will be given to homeroom teachers,
outlining the rationale and
organizational structure of this activity, and will be given to
parents.
4. Collect all job shadow information from students to be include
din their portfolios,
located in the Career Center.
5. Award credit for 4th quarter homeroom based upon successful
completion of the
speaker summarization sheet and attendance at speaker.
