The
middle school is designed so students remain in their
"houses" for Math, Language Arts/Reading, Science, Social Studies
and Health classes, while others are provided in areas dedicated to
Art, Music (Band and Choir), Technology Education, Computer Skills,
Physical Education and Family & Consumer Sciences. Special
Education students are mainstreamed within their classes as much as
possible.Teams consist of small groups of teachers who share the same group of students and the same preparation period throughout the year. This grouping helps staff organize high-quality instructional programs and appropriately integrate that knowledge across subject areas to benefit student learning.
Each grade has a house in the school:
* the sixth grade house is near the gym;
* the seventh grade house is by the media center; and
* the eighth grade house is by the auditorium and the encore wing
