Students will
explore a variety of artistic styles and design. They will develop
projects using several mediums: paint, marker, colored pencil,
pastels, collage, jewelry, creative masks, book making, air brush
and kiln fired clay sculpture. The students will use the language of
art: elements and principles to make aesthetic decisions that
influenced their work, explore the relationship between art history,
culture and our society.
Topics: 6th
Grade: Students will build skills and be introduced to the elements
and principles of design. All students take this class for 18 weeks
for 40minutes every other day.
7th Grade: Students will continue
exploring elements and principles of design. Students enroll in this
class as an elective for 18 weeks for 80 minutes every other day.
8th Grade: Students will articulate
the elements and principles of design by analyzing works of art.
Students enroll in this class as an elective for 18 weeks for 80
minutes every other day.
