Donate Your Eyeglasses and Make a Difference!

January 21, 2015

Drop off or mail your no-longer-needed eyeglasses to Blue Heron Elementary!

Mr. Gutbrod’s fifth grade class is partnering with the Circle-Lex Lions’ Club to make sure the glasses are cleaned, repaired and sent to developing countries to people in need. Mr. Gutbrod  has been collecting glasses for about 20 years and has collected more than 6,000 pairs.

Mr. Gutbrod asked his students to write about this project. Here is one student's entry.

One Journey…

I love my eyeglasses. They’ve  given me quite a journey. They’ve let me read many interesting books, visit informative websites, and see amazing places in the world.

That’s why I decided to donate my old, no longer used eyeglasses, so others can do what I have been so lucky to do. Now, you can do it, too. All you have to do is donate your no longer used eyeglasses to Mr. Gutbrod’s Grade 5 Classroom. They can be sent through school mail or dropped off at Blue Heron Elementary.

The Circle-Lex Lions’ Club and my 5th grade class will make sure that your donated eyeglasses go to developing countries after they are cleaned and repaired. Then, they will be  fitted to someone who can’t afford new eyeglasses. If you send in at least one pair of eyeglasses, someone’s life will become happier. Even if you don’t have eyeglasses to donate, you can pass this message along to someone who might be able to do this.

Please help. You will make someone’s life better.

Thank you,
