Mock Trial

Students interested in learning how trials are conducted and competing against teams from other schools should consider Mock Trial. Students will learn the facts of a case, and will receive training as defense and prosecuting attorneys, as well as witnesses in the case. Each team will learn how to argue both sides of a case, and actual competition against other schools will take place in a court room, judged by attorneys or actual judges. This is a good experience for learning how to argue two sides of a case, and is extremely helpful for learning communication and thinking skills, especially thinking "on one's feet." The season lasts from the end of October until early March. Times for training and practice sessions are yet to be determined; they will either be after school or in the evenings. A student may letter in Mock Trial if they compete all requirements including turning in written assignments, preparing for roles, attending practices, and competitions.
