2017/18 Career Tasks for CHS Students

In addition to attendance, a career component must be completed at each grade level in order to receive advisory credit. Seniors must have ALL advisory tasks completed by the Wednesday before the end of 1st semester, January 17, 2018. ALL advisory tasks are required to graduate.

Grade 9 - Due May 2, 2018

  1. Start your ILP (Individual Learning Plan)
  2. Map your 4-Year Academic Plan:  With the help of Counselors and Advisors, create an overview of all of your high school coursework using Family Connection "My Planner" tab
  3. Start recording your activities, awards, volunteer work, work experience, etc. on the form called "Resume" on Family Connection under the "About Me' tab
  4. Transcript and Report Card review with the help of your Advisory Teacher (with support from Counselors)
  5. Complete 9th grade reflection activity on Family Connection  
     

Grade 10 - Due May 2, 2018

Complete the Career Interest Profile found on Family Connection under the "Careers" tab and review 4-Year Academic Plan
Using your results from the career interest profile choose ONE of the following activities:

Job Shadow - Participate in a job shadow  in the community.  Complete the reflection questions found on Family Connection in the left margin under the  "About Me" tab 

Volunteer/Service Learning- Identify local volunteer opportunities.  Volunteer for a minimun of 8 hours.  Complete the reflection survey found on Family Connection in the left margin under the "About Me" tab. 

Enrichment Program - Attend an enrichment program.  A listing of enrichment programs can be found on Family Connection under the "Colleges" tab.  Complete the reflection survey found on Family Connection in the left margin under the "About Me" tab.

Grade 11 - Due May 2, 2018

Meet with a college or military representative to complete your Post Secondary Visit. Review the 4-Year Academic Plan

Choose from ONE OR MORE of the following activities:

Contact the Admissions Office at a College or University to schedule and attend a campus visit.  Complete the Post Secondary Reflection Survey found on Family Connection in the left margin under the "About Me" tab.

Visit with a college or military representative during LEAP in the Career Center or Cafeteria at CHS.  Complete the Post Secondary Reflection Survey found on Family Connection in the left margin under the "About Me" tab.

Attend the National College Fair or local Spring College Fair.  Complete the Post Secondary Reflection Survey found on Family Connection in the left margin under the "About Me" tab.

Grade 12 - Due January 17, 2018

  1. Completion of ILP
  2. Review and finalize 4-Year Academic Plan
  3. Completion of  resume 
  4. Completion of senior reflection advisory task found on Family Connection in the left margin under the "About Me" tab.
