Financial Aid

Financial Aid

FAFSA – Free Application for Federal Student Aid is the form used to apply for state and federal grants, work study, student loans and many other financial aid options available at individual colleges.

Students going to college in the 2018/19 school year (current CHS seniors) may submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) starting on October 1, 2017.  The FAFSA form you submit on October 1st will use the income tax information from your 2016 tax return.

Steps for filling out the FAFSA:

  1. Create an FSA ID – student and parent must create their own FSA ID by logging on and following the instructions:
    https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out/fsaid
  2. Fill out the FAFSA form using your 2016 tax information:
    https://fafsa.gov

Since the FAFSA submission date has been moved up, some colleges/universities have moved up other deadlines such as admissions and scholarship deadlines.  Contact the Office of Admissions at each college to determine individual deadlines.
