Over 45 area businesses, community and school organizations, families and individuals contributed $68,250 to the Centennial scholarship program. This year, 91 students received scholarships and were recognized at the annual scholarship event held May 12 at Centennial High School.
Centennial High School partners with the Centennial Area Education Foundation (CAEF) to create scholarship opportunities for students. In addition to assisting with the administration of many scholarships on behalf of other donors, CAEF was able to make a direct contribution of $6,000 to fund scholarships, supporting nine students.
How the Community Can Help Future Students
This year, a record 171 students applied for funding. Many deserving students went unfunded, which speaks to the need for community involvement to create new scholarships by generating additional donations. Contributions can be directed to CAEF with a designation for the scholarship fund. Donations can be made to the general scholarship fund, or donor-advised scholarships can be created with the donor involved in the criteria and/or selection process.
