The Centennial District Powerpack Program is in full swing for the 2022-23 school year, thanks to a group of dedicated community leaders. Powerpack is part of the Centennial Community Food Shelf and operates out of the middle school during regular school hours. All ten Centennial schools are participating in the program again this year. A Powerpack consists of self-serve meals, breakfast items, fruit item and snacks. Interested families can talk to their school counselor if they are in need of the program.
We are fully funded by donations. Monetary donations are preferred so that we can take advantage of buying power through community partnerships and Second Harvest Heartland and to buy exactly the items needed to fill the packs. Volunteers staff the Powerpack room on Wednesday mornings and afternoons each week school is in session.
To volunteer for Powerpack please contact us at powerpackdistrict12@gmail.com. Please provide your name, phone number and how you want to be involved. You will get a response with more information.
To make a donation, please make your check out to CCFS with Powerpack in the memo line and mail to Powerpack c/o CCFS, PO Box 8, Circle Pines, MN 55014. The cost to sponsor a child for the whole school year is estimated at $100 (40 weeks * $2.50 per pack). We are currently supporting 300 kids each week. To support a weeks’ worth of packs would be $750.00. We are a 100% volunteer run which means all donations are spent on food for the children. We have community support which supplies us with all non-food supplies (i.e., stamps, paper, bags to put the food in, etc.)
The Powerpack leadership team appreciates the support and cooperation of the school district and look forward to another successful school year.
