Executive Director of Teaching and Learning Hired

The Centennial School District 12 School Board approved the hire of Mark Grossklaus as the Executive Director of Teaching at Learning at its regularly scheduled board meeting on April 19.

Grossklaus, principal of Albert Lea High School since 2014, implemented strategies around emotional and social learning to staff and students and a one-to-one device initiative. He also led the implementation of High Reliability Schools in the Albert Lea School District.

Before his post at Albert Lea Public Schools, he was the principal of the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists from 2008 to 2014. In the classroom, he’s been a social studies teacher for South St. Paul Public Schools, South Washington County Public Schools, and Medford Public Schools. Grossklaus also worked for Twin Cities Public Television as an Education Specialist and has coached girls soccer.

He holds a superintendent certificate from Saint Mary’s University, an education specialist degree and Master of Arts from the University of Saint Thomas, Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Bemidji State University, Bachelor of Art in History from Gustavus Adolphus, and an Applied Arts degree from Bethany Lutheran.

Grossklaus will begin his position on July 1. Scott Johnson, current Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, will retire on June 30 after 38 years with the Centennial School District.
