AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a program at Centennial that helps to prepare all students for college and other postsecondary opportunities. Centennial students enrolled in this college prep class led a Toys for Tots drive to help kids in the community.
Students made posters, announcements, and rallied their peers in order to collect toys and money. Students collected 220 toys and $490. The toys were donated in partnership with the Lexington Dairy Queen. The money was spent at Walmart by Ms. Augustin, Centennial High School teacher, and four students and then donated the toys through Lang Builders, another local business.
The AVID group plans to collaborate with these businesses for future endeavors.
