Masks are Recommended for the Start of the 2021-2022 School Year

August 24, 2021

The Centennial School Board approved the District’s plan for back-to-school preparations for students and staff at its August 23, 2021 meeting. Masks for students, staff, and visitors in our schools will be recommended. The mask recommendation follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), and Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) COVID guidance.

Students riding the bus are required to wear face masks, per the federal government. The CDC’s Order requires face masks to be worn by all people while on public transportation. This includes bus transportation to/from school.

Centennial will adjust its plan accordingly should guidance shift to a requirement or mandate for schools for universal masking or masking of designated student groups.

Centennial will require masks for students and staff in a school that is at or above a 5% COVID-19 positivity rate and in Pre-K through grade 6 classrooms when there is one or more cases.

See Centennial's Return to School Plan here for more information on mitigation strategies and details of the masking requirement guidance.

The District will continue to review CDC, MDH, MDE, and Anoka County Public Health guidance regarding updates or revisions and will monitor the county caseloads and transmission rates as we lead up to and throughout the school year.
