Centennial Celebrates Re-Opening of Sports Arena

What:               The public is invited to celebrate the opening of the renovated Centennial Sports Arena and the new addition. A ribbon-cutting, public open house and free skate is scheduled in the morning; a ceremonial puck drop before the boys varsity game against Blaine marks the grand re-opening of the ice.

Why:                The Arena renovation and addition was made possible by a voter-approved capital levy in 2018. The Centennial Sports Arena was built in 1991 and boasted the first Olympic-size ice surface in the Twin Cities metro area. The Arena closed after the 2019 hockey season and re-opens as the hockey season gets underway.

Who:                Varsity girls and boys hockey teams, community dignitaries, school board members, school administrators.

When/Where:  Saturday, January 4, 2020
9:30am-noon: Public open house (free); self-guided tours, photo opportunities with Centennial Cougar mascot.

9:40am: Ceremonial ribbon-cutting with Centennial School Board.

10:30am-noon: Free skate for the public.

1:00pm: Junior Varsity boys hockey vs. Blaine.

3:00pm: Ceremonial puck drop with boys and girls hockey teams; community dignitaries; school administrators; school board; coaches.
