The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is offered each fall to all students in their junior year of high school.  Junior students planning to attend a four year college are encouraged to register for the test.  Sophomore students may also want to take the PSAT to become familiar with the test format before taking it as juniors.

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a co-sponsored program by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation.  This standardized test provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test.  Scores from the PSAT are used to select the top students nationwide to compete for scholarships through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation scholarship programs.

This nationally standardized test allows students to compare their performance with other college bound students.  This test measures critical reading skills, math problem solving skills, and writing skills and provides the opportunity for students to experience a college entrance test in a practice setting.  Following the test, students receive feedback about their performance on these critical academic skills.  Students also have the opportunity to receive information from colleges.  Additional information about the PSAT is available at

The PSAT will be given at Centennial High School on Saturday, October 18, 2014.  The testing date is determined by the College Board. (This is MEA weekend.)  The nonrefundable fee to cover the cost of the test and its administration is $25 and can be paid via FeePay through the Centennial School District web site starting Tuesday, September 2, 2014.  Space is limited.  The registration deadline is Wednesday, September 24, 2014.  Registrations after that date will be accepted on a space available basis only.
