Danica Scofield, a fifth grade student at Rice Lake Elementary, took home first place in the preteen division of the Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest for her piano solo. Danica performed “Minute Waltz/Sweet Caroline” on the Grandstand stage. She auditioned in July to advance to the semifinal competition.

Nightly during the Minnesota State Fair, preteens, teens, and adults performed in the semifinals at the Leinie Lodge Bandshell to vie for first place and to advance to compete in the Amateur Talent Contest Finals. The final round of competition featured the 26 remaining contestants competing for more than $20,000 in cash awards and prizes.
