Curriculum and Instruction

Curriculum and Instruction

  • In partnership with the American Indian Education Parent Advisory Committee, the District supplemented our elementary literacy curriculum with more text reflecting Dakota and Ojibwe experience.
  • Schools are deepening their implementation of AVID School-wide instructional practices.
  • During the 2020-21 school year, an audit of our elementary literacy curriculum will be conducted to ensure inclusive materials and instruction are representative of Centennial's diverse community.
  • The District has worked with high school English teachers to examine the multiculturalism of the literature they were using with students. In response to these findings, new resources will be purchased and all teachers are committed to using literature written by contemporary black and brown authors/speakers. It is important that all student see themselves reflected what they read and see.
  • The English Department at Centennial Middle School will also examine and expand the multiculturalism of the literature they use with students.
  • Consistent with professional development related to Equity of Voice and instructional best practices, teachers continue to build student voice into their lesson design.
  • The District will be expanding its inventory of multicultural and equity-based text available in each school library.
