Summer's on Its Way!
Centennial Schools and Community Education provide a wide variety of offerings to enhance your summer learning and fun. Here's a peek into the opportunities for summer!
Early Childhood Programs
- Gearing up for Kindergarten: Prepares parents and their children for success.
- Extended School Year: Four-week summer services for students with special education needs; students qualify through their Individual Education Plan.
Elementary Programs
- Kids Club Summer C.A.M.P.: Kids Club C.A.M.P. (Creative Arts, Academic Enrichment, Mingling with our World, Physical Fitness): Students entering grades K-6. Flexible, full day childcare.
- GRASP: A summer academic correspondence workbook program for students entering grades 1-6.
- Youth Summer Enrichment: Includes both daytime and evening sports and recreation, academic and fine arts offerings, special interest, events and more.
- Camp Invention: A fun, hand-on science and creativity camp. To register visit Campinvention.org
- Music: Private vocal, guitar and ukulele lessons are available for all ages and Intro to Centennial Marching Band is available to students entering grades 8-10, all through Community Education.
- More Than Pink: This five-week program, for girls entering grades 4 & 5, offers empowerment through self-discovery and physical fitness, culminating in a 5K run event.
- Summer Sensory Camp: An outdoor sensory experience for children with special needs and their siblings.
- Targeted Services: Three-week summer school based on teacher recommendation/by invitation only.
- Summer Academy: Two-week summer program based on teacher recommendation/by invitation only.
- Extended School Year: Four-week summer services for students with special education needs; students qualify through their Individual Education Plan.
Middle and High School Programs
- Youth Summer Enrichment: Includes both daytime and evening sports and recreation, academic and fine arts offerings, special interest, events, and more.
- GRASP: A summer academic correspondence workbook program for students entering grades 7-9.
- Driver Education: Both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction. Instructed by licensed teachers.
- Middle School Tour & Scavenger Hunt: An event assisting incoming sixth graders to get to know their new school building and ease anxieties about the transition to middle school.
- Cougar Strength: A comprehensive physical strength and conditioning program for all athletes entering grades 6-12.
- More Than Pink: This five-week program, for girls entering grades 6 & 7, offers empowerment through self-discovery and physical fitness, culminating in a 5K run event.
- Centennial Alumni Summer Shakespeare Theater: A true community theater experience for students entering grades 6-12 plus adults!
- Credit Recovery: Credit recovery options are available for two weeks through Centennial Area Learning Center. All courses are Edgenuity-based, and students can work at their own pace to recoup credit that they have missed or failed during the school year. Students have the ability to recover up to 1.0 credits during this time.
- Pines Summer School: Students who reside at the Anoka County Residential Programs will be enrolled and attend class in the month of June. Students will earn credit for this work and letters of completion will be sent to their home district for them to transfer to their transcripts.
Community Programs
- Aquatics: Swimming lessons for ages 18 months to adults.
- Adult Summer Enrichment: Includes sports and recreation, fine arts and creative offerings, education and finance classes, special interest offerings, events, outings and more.
- English as a Second Language: Instruction is available throughout the summer. For more information text instructor Yue "Pearl" Cheng, 612-402-1565.
- 5K events: More Than Pink 5K, Golden Lake Gallop, and Centennial Kids Obstacle/Mud Run.
- Community Education's Food Truck & Fun Festival: Thursday, August 15, 4pm-8pm, Centennial Middle School. This community event combines food trucks, a car show, and various demonstrations and performances. A portion of the proceeds of the food truck sales benefit Community Education's Financial Assistance Program.
- Music on the Lake--It's Golden: This free summer concert series held at Golden Lake Park select Thursday nights is co-sponsored by Community Education and the city of Circle Pines. Find the concert schedule online.
