Career Exploration

Career Exploration

Planning for your education and career takes time, thought, reflection, and exploration.  If you have not started already, here are a couple of steps which students can work on.

1.       Assess yourself to know who you are and determine your likes and dislikes.  Take the career interest profiler on the Family  Connection website to find your career areas of interest.   All students at CHS have an account on Family Connection.  Click on the "about me" tab across the top and then on "career interest profiler" to get started.  You may also want to complete the  "do what you are" personality profile to see which careers are a good match for your personality type.

2.       Explore careers to find options that fit you.  There is no better way to explore careers than “trying them on” to see if they fit. This can be done in a variety of ways including, but not limited to:

a.       Talking to people in your career area of interest

b.      Job shadow someone in your career field

c.       Volunteer in a related field of interest

d.      Find a job in your area of interest

e.      Sign up for an enrichment program.   Enrichment programs are listed on the Family Connection website.   Click on "Colleges" and then "Enrichment Programs".   Topics range from nursing, engineering, language arts, science and technology and more.
